LOS ANGELES PASSES
 FOUR MONTH
SPAY NEUTER LAW

Come To Our Town Hall Meeting on February 21st at 7:30 pm to Find Out the Options

The Los Angeles City Council, in an unprecedented rush, wrote, and passed a mandatory spay neuter law on February 1, 2008, just barely complying with the Brown Act in terms of giving notice.

Although this has passed, it will undoubtedly be challenged in the courts. Be sure and write your letter and send it to the whole Council, and also send a copy to the Clerk of the City Council, Maria Kostrencich. Her fax is 213-978-1978 and ask that it be made part of the record. Without this step none of your letters are shown as opposition.

CDOC will hold a Town Hall meeting on February 21st in the Galpin Ford Community Room. That is located at the 405 and Roscoe about 2 miles north of the Ventura Freeway. We will explore legal options and hear from the law firm of Roberti and Jensen. David Roberti and John Jensen specialize in clients with issues before California state government, California state departments, and California state agencies in Los Angeles and Sacramento.

Most of us have questions and David and John will be able to answer our questions so we can determine the correct course of action.

On February 1st Ed Boks, General Manager Los Angeles Animal Services, put a 30 day survey on his blog:"Do you believe the City's new spay/neuter ordinance is needed?" By Sunday evening, February 3, 2008, the talley was 96% NO 3% YES. Unaccountably, the Suvey was taken down 27 days early.

Now Assemblyman Levine has a poll. As of February 17, the numbers are 68.46% opposed and 31.54% in favor. So don't be surprised if that poll comes down as well.
