MOLLY'S BILL- AB 258
Assembly Member Curt Hagman (R)

CDOC Director Cathie Turner, Assembly Member Curt Hagman, Molly and Sam Gadd, Molly's owner, at the announcement for Molly's Bill.

AB 258 would exempt a dog, upon a specified application and at discretion of local health office, from a rabies vaccination requirement a dog whose life would be endangered due to disease or other considerations if the dog received the vaccine, as determined by a licensed veterinarian on an annual basis. During the exemption period the dog would be confined to its premises or on leash no longer than 6 feet controlled by adult;. There could be no contact with unvaccinated dogs or cats. You can read the text of the bill here.

Currently there is no exemption allowed even though the packaging for the vaccine specifies it is only for health animals.

Please take a minute to look at these videos. In the first, Veterinary Student Lisa Lippman talks about why this bill is personally important to her and her dog. In the second, author Curt Hagman discusses the bill and its importance.
